While I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the United States, the people who really know me, like Sue Robert, know I like the "dives" the best. The food is always fresh. The atmosphere is my real nature. I still think of myself as a "writer," who can dress the way he wants, go where he wants, and not have a lot of money to enjoy life and have a good time.
This site has the best list of "dives" to go to in our area that I have seen. The writer states the reviews are only for lunch. Many of them serve dinner.
I dont know how up-to-date it is. Binis was one of my favorite places, but has not been around for over a year. They tore down this landmark next to the old canneries where you could see people drinking martinis for lunch along with workers drinking beer and the food was "dive food" at its best.
