Jim Swander of Bellevue, Washington is the Winner of the "Joke of the Month" for July. He first did not want to accept a bottle of 1989 Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Monte Bello (86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% merlot, 2% Petitee Verdot).

"I’ve been thinking about this," he said in an e-mail to me. "You don’t owe me a bottle of wine. I enjoy your jokes. I have had some "downer" stuff in my life over the past few years. I use jokes and inspirational pieces to start my day on a positive note."

"We are all in trouble when we forget to laugh. Humor is a powerful medicine. I very much appreciate getting your material , and will continue to share mine in the future."

You may remember Jim when he and Duane Russell had a leasing company
in Santa Clara, California. He then went into training leasing company personnel, including several days here at American Leasing. He moved to the Northwest almost five years ago for family reasons. He remarried about a year ago. He has done a lot of volunteer work for the United Association of Equipment Leasing, supported the CLP program, served on the Board of Directors for three years, and continues in the leasing business in the Northwest.

"I have a small operation," he explains. "I keep it that way to have time
for my two children who just arrived to spend time with me this summer."
